My Skin Integrity
In the corner of the Castle Yard, is a tiny modern day alchemists’ workshop, where the air is richly scented with the aroma of nature’s botanical treasures. Denise O’Connell, Founder of My Skin Integrity, is a clinical aromatherapist with over 23 years’ experience in cancer care. She has created a beautiful range of skincare products to nurture the most compromised of skin that includes cold process soap, face and body balms, hand creams, hydrosols, oils and personal inhalers. Gift boxes can be made to order. -
Des Byrne
Des Byrne is a master silversmith. He spent twelve years learning his trade, with the famed Gunnings & Sons, of Fleet Street, in Dublin, who were renowned for their ecclesiastical work (The Irish Monstrance in Fatima, Portugal is one such piece). In 1968, Des moved to Kilkenny as part of the Kilkenny Design Workshops. In 1987, Des was commissioned by the GAA to reproduce the iconic Sam Maguire Cup. Eighty-one years’ young, Des is still making traditional silver commissioned pieces- chalices, trophies and jewellery for customers worldwide. -
Wired Irish Crafts
Wired Irish Crafts was set up by Tracy & Douglas Higgins to help eliminate issues with traditional candles. The vision was to provide eco-friendly candles using only natural ingredients and sustainable products with a zero-waste policy. Wired Irish Crafts Soy Candles have eliminated the common issues such as sooting, candle tunnelling and evaporating fragrances. All candles are handmade at their studio nestled within the idyllic setting of the Castle Yard. Providing over 10 amazing and unique fragrances available in eco-friendly genuine coconut shells, bamboo bowls. -
Ken Foley Leather
Ken Foley designs and hand makes high quality leather handbags and leather goods in his workshop in the Castle Yard in Kilkenny Design Centre. He works with Italian leather which is ethically sourced. His designs are unique and will last a lifetime. Ken studied Industrial Design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. He has taken part in exhibitions and has won awards in the RDS national craft competition. -
