The Child of Prague

The Child of Prague is a small statue of the infant Jesus, traditionally placed outside the bride’s house the night before a wedding to ensure good weather for the ceremony. Some argue that the statue must be placed under a bush to prevent rain, others say that it must be beheaded, and others stipulate that its head must come off without human interference. This always fascinated me that people would drive to a shop, buy a statue to hide it decapitate it so the weather would be grand for the day. If the Child of Prague statue could talk and in an act of self-preservation – baby Jesus would strongly suggest looking at the weather forecast or at very least not interfering with his head!

Sizes: A4 (210mm x 297mm) and A3 (297mm x 420mm).

All prints are digitally printed to 220gsm Archival Matte paper with the option of single mount framing for both the A3 (20inch x 16inch) & A4 (16inch x 12inch) prints.

All frames are handcrafted locally and the timber is sustainably sourced in Ireland.
