Step by Step Frame

Black Hen is the creation of husband-and-wife duo, Vida and Andy established in late 2010. They design and make a wonderful collection of framed illustrations on glass, all from their workshop based in Roscommon. Each and every piece is inspired by their love of nature here in the Irish countryside with specific emphasis on wildlife. For them, creating great design is all about keeping it simple, fresh and contemporary, but best of all making people smile. Vida and Andy are delighted to now supply over 80 stores who are passionate about great quality and unique design throughout the Island of Ireland, United Kingdom and further afield.

"I grew up in the west of Ireland on a small dairy farm, milking cows, feeding chickens and rearing turf as well as being creative. It was something that came naturally to me and I knew I either wanted to become a farmer or an artist one day. Andy on the other hand grew up in Surrey but spent many of his school summer holidays with his grandparents in the Isle of Wight. This was a place he felt at home, enjoying the freedom of the countryside and exploring his love of nature. Fast forward some years later having met in London we decided to return to my native village of Lisacul, to live and work."
